Wib Evans
President, FirstBank Ventures
Wilburn “Wib” Evans has spent the majority of his career helping FirstBank grow into the state’s largest independent bank. And his institutional knowledge has proved invaluable as the bank has expanded its operational scope to serve an increasing customer base.
As President of FirstBank Ventures, Wib has overall responsibility for the bank’s mortgage and investment functions, with a special focus on developing and implementing strategies for fee income for FirstBank Mortgage Partners and FirstBank Investment Partners.
Wib joined FirstBank in 1987 as Chief Financial Officer, a position that he held for almost 10 years before being promoted to Executive Vice President in 1996 and later to Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to joining FirstBank, Wib worked in Memphis as a certified public accountant with BDO Seidman, a prestigious tax consulting organization.
Wib is an active member of Lexington’s civic and business communities, serving on the boards of directors of Henderson County CASA, Plateau Insurance Company and the Lexington Industrial Development Board. He also is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Tennessee Society of CPAs.
Wib is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. He also received certificates from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University and the Tennessee School of Banking at Vanderbilt University.
Originally from Parsons, Tennessee, Wib is an avid golfer and hunter who loves to cook. In fact, if he weren’t in the banking industry, Wib says, he’d most likely be a chef.
