An Interview With John Blade, Fairview, Tennessee Market President
What’s your story? Where did you grow up and have you always lived in Tennessee?
I am a native Tennessean. I grew up in Hickman County. My entire career has been in Fairview, Tennessee. We have four banks and I have worked at three of them at some point.
How did you get into banking?
I began my career in 1988. I was referred by a dear mentor and friend who was a banker in Centerville, Tennessee.
How is the culture different at FirstBank compared to larger banks?
Absolutely no comparison. FirstBank has a culture of helping people, treating people with respect and always doing the right thing. I am empowered to make local decisions which ultimately affect the people in my community.
What is your favorite part about your job?
The people! I love working with and helping folks achieve their goals and dreams.
What do you like best about being a community banker?
Making a positive difference in my community each and every day. We are so blessed to have the awesome customer base we have. I love helping people.
What’s your favorite lunch spot there?
Country Cafe. I not only get a great meal but get to visit with so many great folks in our community.
Have you ever had a mentor who made a difference in your life? How so?
Yes. Mrs. Jean Reeves. Ms. Jean was a long time banker in Centerville, Tennessee. She made such a huge impact on my life and actually referred me to start my career.
