Concert and green lighting is a beloved holiday tradition in the Lipscomb community

The Lipscomb University community is celebrating the 18th anniversary of its traditional start to the holiday season with beloved Nashville entertainer Amy Grant and special friends at the annual Lighting of the Green presented by FirstBank. This year’s edition is set for Tuesday, Nov. 29, inside Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena.

Joining Grant this year for the 18th annual Lighting of the Green are special guests Michael Tait and Selah along with Lipscomb’s Gospel Choir, Sanctuary and combined choruses from the university and Lipscomb Academy. The FREE concert begins at 6 p.m.
Merry Marketplace, a collection of holiday vendors who donate a portion of their proceeds to benefit Associated Women for Lipscomb scholarships to Lipscomb, is also a traditional feature of Lighting of the Green festivities. The Marketplace will take place on the Gold Level East Concourse beginning at 4 p.m. FREE pictures with Santa begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room located in the North Lobby of Allen Arena. The evening will conclude with the lighting of a Christmas tree in the university quad. Activities will take place as scheduled inside Lipscomb’s Allen Arena.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Lipscomb Dining Services in the concession stands in Allen Arena and in Lipscomb’s Bennett Campus Center (Chick-Fil-A, Creekstone Burgers, Pie on the Fly Pizza, Starbucks and the Bison Café) and Student Activities Center (Freshens).
“For years, Lighting of the Green has been a wonderful holiday tradition, and this would have never happened without the support and generosity of Amy Grant who gives of her time and talent to perform and to schedule an exciting slate of artists each year,” said Walt Leaver, vice president for university relations.
Handicap parking will be available in the Allen Arena parking garage. The event will be held rain or shine. Shuttles will run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Woodmont Hills Church, 3710 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37204.
Please note special parking information for Nov. 29. On the day of the show, surface parking in the Geroge Shinn Center lot and University Park Drive will be blocked off from 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m. In addition to overflow parking available in the Stokes lot and Lipscomb Academy football field lots, shuttles will be running from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. from Woodmont Hills Church (3710 Franklin Pike, Nashville) to provide ample parking for our community and our guests who will join us for this festive evening!

Each year thousands of people turn out to see Grant host the free outdoor holiday concert featuring the Lipscomb student choruses along with Grant’s musical friends. Through the past decade, the holiday concert has featured a number of popular entertainers including Michael W. Smith, Jordan Smith, Brenda Lee, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Lennon & Maisy from the hit ABC show “Nashville,” Vince Gill, Danny Gokey, Nicole C. Mullen, Mandisa, Melinda Doolittle, CeCe Winans, Point of Grace, the Fisk Jubilee Singers, Buddy Greene, Ruth McGinnis, Cody Fry, Jon and Valerie Guerra, David Phelps, Guy Penrod, Dave’s Highway and the Annie Moses Band.
