Michael Mettee
Chief Financial Officer
Michael Mettee, Chief Financial Officer, provides accounting, capital markets, treasury, investment portfolio, finance, planning and analysis support to the Bank’s President and CEO, Regional Presidents, Market Presidents and Community Bank Presidents to assist in driving overall performance and accountability for our banking markets, individually and collectively, through execution of the strategic plan of the Company.
Prior to his role as CFO, Mettee was CFO, Banking, Director of Capital Markets and managed the interest rate risk for FirstBank and supported multiple lines of business including the Commercial Bank, Retail Mortgage, Third Party Mortgage Originations and Consumer Direct Mortgage.
Mettee’s team supports numerous initiatives for the bank including commercial loan hedging, mortgage trading and hedging, product development, investor relations, secondary marketing, loan delivery, loan imaging, post-closing, government insuring, final documents, MSR valuation and hedging, mortgage pricing and other management duties as needed.
Prior to joining FirstBank, Mettee managed the budget and forecasting process for the Retail bank at BBVA Compass. Mettee also managed pricing for all asset/liability products for Retail, managed financial reporting and provided strategic direction for the Retail bank. Prior to his experience in Retail finance Mettee spent a decade in Secondary Marketing at BBVA Compass, Regions/AmSouth and Wachovia/SouthTrust.
Mettee has served on multiple boards including The Freddie Mac Advisory Board, The FHLB of Cincinnati Advisory Board and prior to relocating to Franklin, The Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama and United Cerebral Palsy of Birmingham. Mettee is actively involved in the community in Franklin, Tennessee where he currently resides with his wife (Sarah), daughter (Charlotte) and 2 sons (Brooks and Bennett).
Mettee holds a bachelor’s in science degree with a concentration in finance and Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Alabama. Mettee achieved honors during both his undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Alabama.
